This file, along with RSSHELL.BAT is written to be used with RSShell,
a shareware program which loads external file transfer protocols from comm
programs. RSHLL215.ZIP is also needed but is not included in this zip to
avoid duplication elsewhere on the BBS.
RSShell has 10 protocols and a Game driver built in but does require
the user to aquire the individual protocols to be used. A list of protocols
is included in the documentation. This file describes how to use RSShell
with GeoWorks Ensemble's GeoComm.
This shareware program will run 10 different protocols and allow you
to play Global War online provided you have the proper files located in the
directory with RSSHELL.EXE, or for memory hungry programs with RSSHELL1.EXE
and BRUN45.EXE (NOT INCLUDED). In practice you will probably only use 2 or 3
protocols but you could set it up for all of them. Be sure to register ALL the
software you end up using, especially RSShell.
Place RSSHELL.EXE in the same subdirectory as DSZ.COM (eg. for Zmodem)
and any other protocols you will be using. Also place RS.DAT in this
subdirectory. RS.DAT needs to be edited with a text editor per the Author's
instructions for COMM port, speed, sound (beep, siren, or "Here Comes The Sun")
your registration number when you get it, and upload and download paths (NOTE:
Youmust end the paths with the "\" character! ALSO, DSZ ignores the download
path until you register it!)
Place RSSHELL.BAT in the GeoWorks "WORLD" subdirectory. You will
need to modify RSSHELL.BAT to reflect where the protocols and RSSHELL.EXE are
located.
If you've used external protocols in GeoComm before you know
by now you have to alter the GEOS.INI file (with any editor) if you choose the
telecom icon as follows:
[filemanager]
filenameTokens = {
*.EXE = "gDOS",0
*.COM = "gDOS",0
RSSHELL.BAT = "TERM",0 <----add this line!!
*.BAT = "gDOS",0
}
Now while using GeoComm you can CLICK ON the TRANSFER.BAT icon
once you are ready to send or receive files. As with the other
external protocol programs written for GeoComm, you might need to turn
DTR signal control off by typing the AT&D0 command either in a script
at the beginning of a session or from the GeoComm window and then set
your modem back with AT&D2 when you are done.
Still looking for a fully programmable shell to be able to include
ANY protocol. This one has the most I've found yet but is not programmable.
Hopefully Version 2.0 will make it a mute point.
